Deliverability
If inboxes can't prove your emails really come from you, they go to spam or don't show up at all. This card gets your sending domain set up so Gmail, Yahoo and Outlook trust it.
How long have you lived here?
Type it once. The checker links, the DMARC line and the AI prompts below fill themselves in.
Ingredients
Grab these before you start.
The recipe
Three records do the work. SPF says who's allowed to send for you. DKIM is a signature that proves the email wasn't changed. DMARC tells inboxes what to do if the first two fail.
The steps, in any tool:
Taste test
You're done when all three are true. Give it up to 48 hours after your last change.
Common mistakes
- Two SPF records. Inboxes treat that as broken. Merge them into one.
- Two DMARC records. Same problem. Keep one.
- Jumping straight to p=reject. You can block your own real emails. Start at p=none.
- Forgetting other senders. Shopify order emails, your helpdesk and Google Workspace all need to be covered.
- Typing the full domain into a box that already adds it, so you end up with _dmarc.yourbrand.com.yourbrand.com.
- Sending marketing email from a free @gmail.com address.
Stuck? Ask AI
Copy a prompt, paste it into ChatGPT or Claude, and fill in the brackets. Double-check what it says before you change anything.
Hand it to your team
One person owns it start to finish. Copy the list and paste it into Google Docs, Notion or your task tool.
Sneak peek
What's next in the house, and what's still behind closed doors.
Who you send to matters as much as what you send.
Being built on the same blueprint: the Text House, then the Social House and the Website House.
Make it a bundle
Most people fix the whole room at once.
Rather have us do it?
Locally Known House can set this up for you, start to finish.
The fine print
- Every brand is different. These steps are best practice, not a promise of results.
- In House isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Klaviyo, Attentive, Postscript, Shopify or Squarespace. Their names belong to them.
- Platforms move their menus around. Our steps were checked against each platform's own help center on Oct 7, 2026. If yours looks different, their help article wins.
- Steps marked "double-check in your account" weren't fully confirmed in the platform's help articles. Look before you click.
- AI prompts can get things wrong. Check what it tells you before you change any settings.
- DNS changes can break your email or website if they're typed wrong. Copy records exactly, add new ones instead of deleting old ones, and ask whoever manages your domain if you're not sure.
